工作描述和要求

Applications are invited for the vacancies in the Telecommunications Branch of Technical Services Department in Power Systems Business Group. Reporting to respective team managers, the appointee will lead a team of Engineers to support the growth and operations of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Field Area Network.

Major Duties:

Manage the communications network for smart meter covering territory wide customers of CLP Power which is necessary for enabling applications including but not limited to demand side programme and energy efficiency application
Plan, design, implement, operate and maintain the wireline and wireless telecommunications networks, including the services provided by telecom operators, for power utility applications
Conduct telecommunications technology evaluation and development to ensure compliance with the Telecommunications Ordinance and traffic engineering design model in Hong Kong, and provide technology consultation on long-term operation strategies
Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders on the mass roll out project plan, radio network deployment, operation & maintenance of the FAN, backhaul connection and Tier 2 support to field operation
Lead the Smart Meter Remote Monitoring Centre, including remote troubleshooting AMI issues, analyzing fault data, reporting AMI operation performance, evaluating and planning the firmware upgrades for related systems/field devices, to ensure high system availability attained
Lead and conduct feasibility studies / pilot trials on new telecommunications technologies and applications which could bring values to existing and / or future business/engineering operations
Lead and prepare tender specifications and the related evaluations to establish contracts for the supply of required equipment and services
Ensure staff / contractors are fully complied with the Company's Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) requirements and drive for continuous improvement on safety
Perform duties during typhoon periods, adverse weather conditions, and non-office hours as required

Requirements

A recognized university degree in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the planning & design, project management, installation & commissioning, operation & maintenance of telecommunications systems, with proven experience in leading teams for the provision and operation of telecommunications services
MHKIE or equivalent would be an advantage
Solid experiences in designing, implementing and operating in 2 or more of the following systems, namely Radio Frequency Mesh, TETRA, LAN/WAN, PABX, Microwave networks and UHF radio systems
Familiar with relevant telecommunications regulations, licensing, engineering standards and codes of practice
Ability to work under pressure and be rational and decisive under all situations
Ability to manage and mobilize resources in the most cost effective and efficient manner
Mindful and possess good safety awareness
Ability to communicate effectively with different levels, both internally and externally
Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
Good interpersonal, negotiation, managerial and leadership skills
Valid driving license Class 2 would be an advantage
